Unidentified Object in the Night Sky on the beach?

At a beach in Goa recently, I saw a blinking light very high in the sky at night. I noticed it around 9 p.m. It was stationary in the sky until after I had left i.e for at least 5 hours, so it couldn't have been a plane. It was too high to be a tower. The light was steadily blinking from it, and it wasn't a chopper. Can anyobody tell me what it could be?
