Using fish line weight to weigh down an ornament?

hey i am currently useing 4 fish line weight's that i found around the house to weigh down a ornament in my fish tank im not sure what the weight's are made from but i think its they are metal and are gray. i just realised my fish are being nitrate poisened i think would it actually be from the weight's ? need help quick!
