Ethanol from Algae is so great, then why don't we hear more from it?

Bio diesel from algae is possible, but not workable yet enough to make any money. It takes lots of land, a large source of CO2 (from a coal power plant or something) and so far takes as much energy to break the plant cells apart to get the oil out as there is energy in the oil. The algae also need to be kept in sealed containers so no less productive algae gets mixed in and takes over.
